I hadn’t realized that I’ve been away from the blog so long, as we’ve been working on the new website, Instagram and Facebook pages!
I’ve got a ton of updates to do along with all the new models of bikes, so stay tuned over the next few days!

To get the blog update rolling, why not feature some of the new bibs we’ve been building for the 2018 Harley-Davidson line up.
There were quite a few changes in 018, some minor and some major changes with only a few like the Touring models; Road King, Streetglide, RoadGlide, etc. staying the same bib wise.

Check out the pics below highlighting the new Softail Slim, Softail Deluxe & Heritage, Fatboy and  and the Three Mutts Customs accessories to go with them!
In a coming post we’ll talk about some of the other new models including the Touring models, Softail Low Rider and others!

Softail Slim – This model got a whole new tank bib and a fender bib hole change.  The Harley tank bib features a bolt cut-out in the rear wings that I can’t figure out, so I modified the design to have a full wing and allowing braided edges to come all the way back to the seat.

Softail Deluxe/Heritage – Like the Softail Slim, these two iconic models picked up a new tank bib shape and fender bib hole placement change.

Fatboy – Big changes here, the 2018 Fatboy picked up a new metal dash piece in place of traditional tank bib and a fender bib hole placement change.
Fender bibs are designed and I’ve worked out a jig and am now starting to make leather replacements for the tank panel

Thanks for looking!

-Chris

Has it really been almost a year since my last post?! For those that have been following along on Facebook or Instagram (@threemuttscustoms) you know that I haven’t slowed down at all.
In fact, things have never been busier and have been bringing new designs and tooling styles to the market.

Over the next week, I’ll attempt to catch up everyone on the happenings of the last year…I have a literal ton of pictures to post.

A few updates on the Three Mutts Customs offerings:

Custom leather tank bibs and fender bibs for Harley-Davidson motorcycles are my specialty.  The traditional patterns for nearly every model of Harley are on hand and for those that are not, a few measurements or a tracing is all I need to bring something new to life.  In the last year I have also designed a new, wider drop point style tank bib for the Softail Slim & Heritage pointed dash.
Of course, my other proprietary designs have also been improved including the Fatboy OEM seat matching fender bib, the Heritage matching fender bib and others.

As of 2013 I discontinued the VTX whaletail tank bibs but there is a new kid on the block I have been working with to restart the line.  I’ll talk about Jeff and his new whaletail tank bib business in a later post.  You can also email him directly at abgmsales@hotmail.com

Now that you have a update preview, how about a few pictures for your viewing pleasure?

Enjoy!

I’ve been busier than usual in the shop and at the day job lately so I haven’t had much time to post in the last week and half.

Things haven’t slowed down but I thought I would pop in here and share some pictures of recent work for you boys and girls to check out.
I started an Instagram account recently as it is super fast for sharing pics of finished and work in progress items.  #threemuttscustoms to find my pics please use it if you post pics of your gear in Instagram!

Now for the pics…enjoy!

Coordinating and matching motorcycle leathers

Hey folks, Happy St. Patty’s Day!

I wanted to touch on matching and coordinating custom tank and fender bibs with your existing theme, color scheme or factory gear.  Now, having your gear match isn’t a necessity especially if function is your goal but if you are looking for a clean look to show off at Bike Night and such, coordination can make or break your look.

There are a ton of materials out there but in general there are a fixed number of suppliers so getting a good match or a close match for a tank bib or fender bib is usually possible.  Bigger companies like Harley will subcontract their materials so they are exclusive but close alternatives can be had if you know where to look. Matching another custom maker is also possible when good pictures and references are provided.

This post is picture heavy but I wanted to give you good folks some inspiration for your own matched sets and to show what is possible. None of these bikes were local so everything was done via pictures, emails and most importantly…good communication!

Enjoy!

2013 wrap up pics continued…

As promised, I am back with more pics, although it took me a few more days that expected.  Over the last week my youngest daughter turned 10 months old and to celebrate she came down with a stomach virus AND had her first two teeth come in at the same time.  Teething is bad enough on it’s own but combine it with a flu bug in a little person who can’t communicate her discomfort and it makes for confusion and constant screaming…fun way to spend a 3 day weekend.

Back to topic, here is a collection of custom Harley tank bibs and a Honda tank bib that were shipped out at the end of the year…
