This was a custom request from a client who had some tank work & paint done and while thinking of ways to dress it up (versus a whole new tank paint job) he thought leather. A few conversations and a tracing of his dash panel later and this is what we came up with. 6oz leather with a soft felt backing was used to keep the thickness down to avoid too much dash & subsequent filler & gauge lift (1/8″). For the fuel cap, a second gasket was added to take up the space and now that I have the measurements back I’ll be making up a leather trim ring for the fuel gauge bezel to take up the space and frame it nicely. Finished off with my 6 step dye/top coat process, 12mm chrome spots and triple loop laced edges in black ‘roo lace.
Enjoy!
